Raj Babber, Founder, CEO and President
Raj Babber is the Founder, Chief Executive Officer and President of the Mortgage Company of Canada. Prior to founding Mortgage Company of Canada, Raj founded Canadalend.com. Since its inception in 2005, Canadalend.com has grown to become one of the highest volume independent mortgage brokering houses in Canada.
In 2009, Raj leveraged his deep industry knowledge and broad network to create Mortgage Company of Canada, which converted into a Mortgage Investment Corporation in 2013. From its inception Mortgage Company of Canada continues to grow while minimizing risk and improving yield through increased scale of operations. Raj consistently ensures Mortgage Company of Canada incorporates sound corporate governance within Mortgage Company of Canada’s management team and through the oversight of an independent Board of Directors.
Raj has received the Independent Mortgage Brokers Association of Ontario Marketing Excellence award in 2009.
Sanjay Kaith, Chief Operating Officer
Sanjay Kaith is the Chief Operating Officer at the Mortgage Company of Canada. Sanjay has been a valued member of Mortgage Company of Canada’s management team since inception. In this role, Sanjay makes credit adjudication decisions on a breadth of newly originated mortgages. Sanjay is responsible for the oversight of a team managing maturities, mortgage assessments, renewal and demand decisions, pricing and structuring.
His experience at Mortgage Company of Canada has provided him with a thorough knowledge of mortgage underwriting methodology, the mortgage industry and Mortgage Company of Canada’s primary lending market within Toronto and Greater Toronto Area.
Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Sanjay amassed over 10 years of experience in mortgage brokering, finance and lending in the small and medium business sector. During this period Sanjay also owned and operated a successful small business.
Greg Goutis, Chief Financial Officer
Greg Goutis is the Chief Financial Officer at Mortgage Company of Canada. Greg joined the Mortgage Company of Canada team in January 2013. Greg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in financial and economic studies from the University of Western Ontario and obtained the CMA designation in 1999 (now CPA). Over the course of his career, Greg has accumulated over 15 years of experience in the construction and real estate industries.
Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Greg was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at The Royalton Retirement Residences, who developed, constructed and operated luxury seniors residences with a value in excess of $150 million throughout Ontario. Greg brings a wealth of finance and accounting experience gained through previous roles and in accounting practices.
Kin Babber, Controller
Kin joined the Mortgage Company of Canada team in May of 2016. In her role, Kin manages the accounting department of Mortgage Company of Canada, which includes overseeing the general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, and various special analyses. Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Kin worked in the personal and corporate accounting field, gaining over 10 years of experience in the Canadian accounting and taxation industry, and assisting clients in the marketing, IT, real estate, mortgage brokering and consulting industries.
Kin holds a Bachelor of Administration from York University, a Masters of Business Administration from McMaster University, a CPA designation with CPA Canada, as well as a Mortgage Broker diploma from Seneca College. Kin is a Commissioner of Oaths in Ontario.
Rakhi Tejani, VP Strategy and Business Development
Rakhi joined the Mortgage Company of Canada team in April 2015 as the VP Strategy and Business Development. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring corporate growth initiatives and projects are executed according to management’s strategic plans. Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Rakhi worked at National Bank Financial Markets in the role of Senior Manager Operational Risk. In this role her main focus was analyzing potential business risks, including fraud, legal, regulatory and execution risks.
Rakhi Tejani is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business. She began her career at KPMG within the audit practice and focused on financial institution clients. From there she moved into the pharmaceutical industry, working at both Glaxo Smith Kline and Johnson & Johnson in various senior financial and consulting roles. She also had the opportunity to work abroad in Ireland and London, UK.
In 2013, Rakhi was awarded the Women in Capital Markets Return to Bay Street Award.
Raji Uppal, Credit Risk Manager
Raji joined the Mortgage Company of Canada team in August 2015 as an interim Credit Risk Manager. In this role she is responsible for ensuring credit policy compliance and portfolio credit risk is properly measured, monitored, controlled and assists with any interpretation, revision or development of credit policies, procedures and corporate directives. She reviews all credit applications, ensuring they provide a high quality of risk assessment, credit structure, due diligence and credit presentation. On an ongoing basis, she ensures continued health and good standing of the residential lending portfolio.
Raji holds a BA in Criminology and Justice from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Prior to working at Mortgage Company of Canada, Raji spent the majority of her career working as part of the management team within retail corporate environments. From this experience she has developed a wealth of knowledge in client relations, excellent interpersonal skills, strong leadership skills and a high level of resilience. During her time as a manager Raji has been accredited for being a strong dedicated employee who played an essential role for the success of the company.
Jessica Chalasinska, Mortgage Administrator
Jessica joined Mortgage Company of Canada in October 2010 as Mortgage Administrator. In this role, Jessica supports the underwriting team by processing new deals for underwriting assessment, communicating timelines on files, answering client’s general inquiries, and providing day to day office administrative support. Jessica interfaces with mortgage brokers to ensure complete satisfaction of all underwriting related conditions in the mortgage commitment issued by our underwriters. She also assists in instructing and interfacing with the mortgagor’s solicitor to complete the funding of the mortgage. Jessica is also responsible for assisting in the management of the renewal process for maturing mortgages.
Jessica holds an Honors Business Administration Diploma from Sheridan College. Prior to working at Mortgage Company of Canada, Jessica spent the majority of her career working within Corporate Services environments and has a wealth of experience providing human resources, client relations, and administrative support functions.
Shannon Nicholson, Investor Relations
Shannon joined the Mortgage Company of Canada Investor Relations team in August of 2014. In her role, Shannon manages the development and execution of Mortgage Company of Canada’s investor relations program. This includes helping to manage the flow of key financial and corporate information between Mortgage Company of Canada, its shareholders, and investment communities.
Shannon interfaces with prospective investors and shareholders providing a full spectrum of administrative and communications support. Shannon is also cross trained to assist in all areas of mortgage administration and can support that function as needed.
Shannon holds a Bachelor of Administration from Seneca College.
Ajay Kaith, Business Development Manager
Ajay joined the Mortgage Company of Canada team in December of 2013 as a Business Development Manager. In his current role, Ajay’s main objective is to manage the growth of Mortgage Company of Canada’s portfolio of mortgage brokers. During his tenures at Mortgage Company of Canada, Ajay has developed strong business relationships with mortgage brokers who generate mortgages funded by Mortgage Company of Canada. Ajay is responsible for directly marketing Mortgage Company of Canada’s lending program to mortgage brokers. He is also committed to serving and satisfying the needs of new and existing mortgage brokers through the delivery of superior service.
Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Ajay worked as a mortgage broker for over 7 years. During this time he consistently received recognition for being the top producing broker within the organization. Ajay has been able to successfully leverage his experience as a mortgage broker in his current role at Mortgage Company of Canada as he has a strong appreciation for best practices in mortgage origination and administration.
Danilo Savo, Business Development Officer
Danilo joined Mortgage Company of Canada in September of 2016 as a Business Development Officer. Danilo’s mandate is to create, manage, and service growth of Mortgage Company of Canada’s portfolio of mortgage brokers. Danilo is responsible for directly marketing Mortgage Company of Canada’s lending program to mortgage brokers. Aside from portfolio growth, Danilo is also committed to serving and exceeding the needs of new and existing mortgage brokers through superior service.
Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Danilo has worked in the sales and service industry for over 6 years. During this time he has built strong relationships with diverse cliental and has received recognition for superior sales and service skills.
Echo Wu, Accounting Assistant
Echo joined the Mortgage Company of Canada team in September 2016. As part of the accounting department, Echo works with, and reports to the Controller. Her field of work includes journal entries, record keeping of dividend distributions, bank account reconciliation, and credit card statements reconciliation, payroll tracking, and financial statement preparation. Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Echo worked as an Accounts Payable Specialist with a credit collection company. Echo has also gained experience as an Accounting Assistant with a public accounting firm, which has served clients in the GTA area for over 40 years. Echo has worked independently as well as in a team to help clients with a full range of services including bookkeeping, financial reporting, personal and corporation taxation, and payroll services.
Echo holds a Bachelor of Business Management from Ryerson University, majoring in both Accounting and Finance. Echo is also a member of CPA Ontario.
Lola Oyejobi, Financial Analyst
Lola joined the Mortgage Company of Canada in August 2017 as a financial analyst. In this role, Lola identifies the company’s financial status by analysing and comparing results. She is also responsible for collecting, monitoring and studying the financial data; This includes comparing data, monitoring variances, identifying trends, preparing monthly and quarterly reports to the management.
Lola holds a Bachelor of Economics from Babcock University, a Masters of Business Administration from Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia and she is currently pursuing her CFA. Prior to working at Mortgage Company of Canada, Lola spent the early years of her career working in the Banking sector as an Analyst and has a wealth of knowledge in Analysis and Reporting.
