Raj Babber, Founder and CEO
Raj Babber is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mortgage Company of Canada. Prior to founding Mortgage Company of Canada, Raj founded Canada Lend inc., operating through Canadalend.com. Since its inception in 2005, Canada lend has grown to become one of the highest volume independent mortgage brokering houses in Canada.
In 2009, Raj leveraged his deep industry knowledge and broad network to create Mortgage Company of Canada, which converted into a Mortgage Investment Corporation in 2013. From its inception, Mortgage Company of Canada has continued to grow while minimizing risk and improving yield through increased scale of operations. Raj consistently ensures Mortgage Company of Canada incorporates sound corporate governance within Mortgage Company of Canada’s management team and through the oversight of an independent Board of Directors.
Raj received the Independent Mortgage Brokers Association of Ontario Marketing Excellence award in 2009.
Faheem Tejani, President
Faheem Tejani is the President of Mortgage Company of Canada. Faheem joined Mortgage Company of Canada in March 2018. Faheem holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario and is a Chartered Professional Accountant. Faheem is a seasoned financial executive with 20 years of capital markets and financial industry experience.
Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Faheem was a Managing Director in Equity Capital Markets with BMO Capital Markets. During the course of his 17-year career at BMO Capital Markets, Faheem provided growth and financing strategies to corporations globally and was involved in numerous financings for companies raising over $15 billion, including companies within the financial services industry in Canada. Before joining BMO Capital Markets, Faheem worked for one of the largest global accounting firms.
Greg Goutis, Chief Financial Officer
Greg Goutis is the Chief Financial Officer of Mortgage Company of Canada. Greg joined Mortgage Company of Canada in January 2013. Greg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in financial and economic studies from the University of Western Ontario and obtained the CMA designation in 1999 (now CPA). Over the course of his career, Greg has accumulated over 15 years of experience in the construction and real estate industries.
Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Greg was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Royalton Retirement Residences, which developed, constructed and operated luxury seniors residences with a value in excess of $150 million throughout Ontario. Greg brings a wealth of finance and accounting experience gained through previous roles and in accounting practices.
Sanjay Kaith, Chief Operating Officer
Sanjay Kaith is the Chief Operating Officer of Mortgage Company of Canada. Sanjay has been a valued member of Mortgage Company of Canada’s senior management team since inception. In this role, Sanjay makes credit adjudication decisions on a breadth of newly originated mortgages. Sanjay is responsible for the oversight of team managing maturities, mortgage assessments, renewal and demand decisions, pricing and structuring.
His experience at Mortgage Company of Canada has provided him with a thorough knowledge of mortgage underwriting methodology, the mortgage industry and Mortgage Company of Canada’s primary lending market within the Greater Toronto Area.
Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Sanjay had amassed over 10 years of experience in mortgage brokering, finance and lending in the small and medium business sector. During this period, Sanjay also owned and operated a successful small business.
Kin Babber, Controller
Kin joined Mortgage Company of Canada in May of 2016. In her role, Kin manages the accounting department of Mortgage Company of Canada, which includes overseeing the general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, and various special analyses. Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Kin worked in the personal and corporate accounting field, gaining over 10 years of experience in the Canadian accounting and taxation industry, and assisting clients in the marketing, IT, real estate, mortgage brokering and consulting industries.
Kin holds a Bachelor of Administration from York University, a Masters of Business Administration from McMaster University, a CPA designation with CPA Canada, as well as a Mortgage Broker diploma from Seneca College. Kin is a Commissioner of Oaths in Ontario.
Robert Barbosa, Regional Mortgage Originator
Robert joined Mortgage Company of Canada in August of 2018 as a Regional Mortgage Originator. Robert is responsible for the direct marketing of Mortgage Company of Canada’s lending program to mortgage brokers. Along with growing the portfolio, Robert is focused on providing excellent customer service to both new and existing mortgage brokers through awareness and dedication.
Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Robert worked in the services sector for over 30 years. His attention to detail and customer service earned him recognition and he has received many awards. Focusing on his diverse clientele, his dedication is always to provide superior services with undiminishing commitment.
Jessica Chalasinska, Client Relations Manager
Jessica joined Mortgage Company of Canada in October 2010. In Jessica’s role as Client Relations Manager, she reviews and monitors mortgage payments in the portfolio. She is also responsible for the collection of delinquent payments and for educating clients on establishing and maintaining satisfactory repayment history with MCOCI. Jessica also assists in instructing and interfacing with the mortgagor’s solicitor to complete the funding of the mortgage.
Jessica holds an Honours Business Administration Diploma from Sheridan College. Prior to working at Mortgage Company of Canada, Jessica spent her career working within corporate services environments and has a wealth of experience providing human resources, client relations, and administrative support functions.
Nancy Costa, Mortgage Administrator
Nancy joined Mortgage Company of Canada in July 2016 as an Executive Assistant. Nancy was promoted to Mortgage Administrator in 2018. In this role, Nancy supports the underwriting team by processing new deals for underwriting assessment, assisting with mortgage pre-approvals and commitments.
Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Nancy previously worked for 12 years in the insurance and real estate industries providing support to all levels of management.
Domenica Discianni, Office Manager
Domenica joined Mortgage Company of Canada in January 2020 as the Office Manager. In this role, Domenica performs day-to-day operations in order to maintain the functionality and organization of the office. She is responsible for inventory control, greeting visitors, and supporting staff with administrative duties.
Domenica graduated from Ryerson University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Prior to obtaining employment at Mortgage Company of Canada, she worked in managerial roles in both the retail and food services industries.
Lisa Johnston, Fulfillment Specialist
Lisa joined Mortgage Company of Canada in September 2019. In this role, Lisa supports the underwriting team with the approval, review, and processing of fulfillment conditions specific to residential mortgage applications. She also reviews and verifies the accuracy of the required documentation related to the mortgage commitment. Lisa is also responsible for coordinating with the business development team to ensure that brokers and borrowers receive the highest level of customer service.
Lisa graduated from McMaster University with a degree in Sociology. Prior to working at Mortgage Company of Canada, Lisa worked at Manulife as an Executive Assistant and has over 10 years of experience providing support to all levels of management. She thrives in an environment where she can lead teams and help others.
Ajay Kaith, President of Mortgage Originations
Ajay joined Mortgage Company of Canada in December 2013 as a Business Development Manager. In his current role, Ajay’s main objective is to manage the growth of Mortgage Company of Canada’s third-party mortgage brokers and oversee the business development team. During his tenure at Mortgage Company of Canada, Ajay has developed strong business relationships with mortgage brokers who generate mortgages funded by Mortgage Company of Canada. He is also committed to serving and satisfying the needs of new and existing mortgage brokers through the delivery of superior service.
Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Ajay worked as a mortgage broker for over 7 years. During this time, he consistently received recognition for being the top-producing broker within the organization. Ajay has been able to successfully leverage his experience as a mortgage broker in his current role at Mortgage Company of Canada as he has a strong appreciation for best practices in mortgage origination and administration.
Emma Knox, Mortgage Renewals Specialist
Emma joined Mortgage Company of Canada in August 2018 as the Office Manager. Emma was recently promoted to Mortgage Renewals Specialist. Emma is responsible for coordinating the renewal process for maturing mortgages.
Prior to working at Mortgage Company of Canada, Emma spent most of her career working as a receptionist and coordinator in various workplaces.
Krystina Mustelier, Accounting Assistant
Krystina joined Mortgage Company of Canada in May 2019. As part of the accounting department, Krystina reports to the Controller. Krystina is responsible for journal entries, reviewing credit card statements, credit card statement reconciliations, and general accounting transactions. Previously, Krystina worked as an accounts payable assistant in the financial industry and has over 10 years of diversified customer service experience.
Shannon Nicholson, Investor Relations Manager
Shannon joined Mortgage Company of Canada in August 2014. In her role, Shannon manages the development and execution of Mortgage Company of Canada’s investor relations program. This includes helping to manage the flow of key financial and corporate information between Mortgage Company of Canada and its shareholders.
Shannon interfaces with Mortgage Company of Canada’s and shareholders providing a full spectrum of administrative and communications support. Shannon is also cross-trained to assist in all areas of mortgage administration and can support that function as needed.
Shannon holds a Bachelor of Administration from Seneca College.
Danilo Savo, VP of Mortgage Originations
Danilo joined Mortgage Company of Canada in September 2016 as a Business Development Officer. Danilo’s mandate is to create, manage, and service growth of Mortgage Company of Canada’s portfolio of mortgage brokers. Danilo is responsible for the direct marketing of Mortgage Company of Canada’s lending program to mortgage brokers. Aside from portfolio growth, Danilo is also committed to serving and exceeding the needs of new and existing mortgage brokers through superior service.
Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Danilo worked in the sales and service industry for over 6 years. During this time, he built strong relationships with a diverse clientele and received recognition for superior sales and service skills.
Rakhi Tejani, VP Strategy and Business Development
Rakhi joined Mortgage Company of Canada in April 2015 as VP Strategy and Business Development. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring corporate growth initiatives and projects are executed according to management’s strategic plans. Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Rakhi worked at National Bank Financial Markets in the role of Senior Manager Operational Risk. In this role, her main focus was analyzing potential business risks, including fraud, legal, regulatory and execution risks.
Rakhi Tejani is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business. She began her career at KPMG within the audit practice and focused on financial institution clients. From there, she moved into the pharmaceutical industry, working at both Glaxo Smith Kline and Johnson & Johnson in various senior financial and consulting roles. She also had the opportunity to work abroad in Ireland and London, UK.
In 2013, Rakhi was awarded the Women in Capital Markets Return to Bay Street Award.
Raji Uppal, Credit Risk Manager
Raji joined Mortgage Company of Canada in August 2015 as Credit Risk Manager. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring credit policy compliance and that portfolio credit risk is properly measured, monitored, and controlled, and she assists with the interpretation, revision or development of credit policies, procedures, and corporate directives. She reviews all credit applications, ensuring they provide a high quality of risk assessment, credit structure, due diligence and credit presentation. On an ongoing basis, she verifies the continued health and good standing of the company’s residential lending portfolio.
Raji holds a BA in Criminology and Justice from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Prior to working at Mortgage Company of Canada, Raji spent the majority of her career working as part of the management team within retail corporate environments. From this experience, she has developed a wealth of knowledge in client relations, excellent interpersonal skills, strong leadership skills and a high level of resilience. During her time as a manager, Raji was recognized as a strong dedicated employee who played an essential role in the success of the company.
Echo Wu, Accounting Assistant
Echo joined Mortgage Company of Canada in September 2016. As part of the accounting department, Echo works with and reports to the Controller. Her field of work includes journal entries, record keeping of dividend distributions, bank account reconciliation, and credit card statements reconciliation, payroll tracking, and financial statement preparation. Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Echo worked as an Accounts Payable Specialist with a credit collection company. Echo also gained experience as an Accounting Assistant with a public accounting firm, which has served clients in the GTA area for over 40 years. Echo has worked independently as well as in a team to help clients with a full range of services including bookkeeping, financial reporting, personal and corporation taxation, and payroll services.
Echo holds a Bachelor of Business Management from Ryerson University, majoring in both Accounting and Finance. Echo is also a member of CPA Ontario.
