Senior Management

Raj Babber, Founder and CEO

Mr. Babber is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation. Mr. Babber is also a Director of the Corporation. He has over 18 years of experience in accounting, finance and lending in the small and medium business sector, as well as experience and expertise in the residential housing market. Mr. Babber is also the founder of Canada Lend, a mortgage brokerage company serving the Greater Toronto Area. As of March 2021, he is also a member of the Board of Directors for Humber River Hospital Foundation. This foundation sets out to inspire financial support and assist in the technological and patient care advances of Humber River Hospital.

 

Faheem Tejani, President

Mr. Tejani is the President of the Corporation. He is a seasoned financial executive with over 23 years of capital markets and financial industry experience. Prior to joining the Corporation, Mr. Tejani held the position of Managing Director, Equity Capital Markets for BMO Capital Markets. Before joining BMO Capital Markets, Mr. Tejani worked for one of the largest global accounting firms. Mr. Tejani is also currently on the board of directors of Pretium Resources Inc. (Pretivm), a TSX and NYSE listed company. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Western University.

 

Greg Goutis, Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Goutis is the Chief Financial Officer and Director of the Corporation. Mr. Goutis has over 18 years of experience in the construction and real estate industries. Prior to joining the Corporation, he held the position of Vice President, Operations and Chief Financial Officer for a seniors housing company. Mr. Goutis is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified Management Accountant.

 

Sanjay Kaith, Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Kaith has over 10 years of experience in mortgage brokering, finance and lending in the small and medium business sector, as well as experience and expertise in the residential housing market. Mr. Kaith was instrumental in developing the Corporation’s operating platforms, and policies and procedures which have guided the Corporation and MCC to date.

 

Team Members

Kin Babber, Controller

Kin joined Mortgage Company of Canada in May 2016. In Kin’s role as controller, she manages the accounting department of Mortgage Company of Canada. This includes overseeing the general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, and various special analyses.

Kin holds a Bachelor of Administration from York University, a Masters of Business Administration from McMaster University, a CPA designation with CPA Canada, as well as a Mortgage Broker diploma from Seneca College. Kin is a Commissioner of Oaths in Ontario. Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Kin worked in the personal and corporate accounting field, gaining over 10 years of experience in the Canadian accounting and taxation industry, and assisting clients in the marketing, IT, real estate, mortgage brokering and consulting industries.

 

Robert Barbosa, Document Fulfillment Specialist

Robert joined Mortgage Company of Canada in August 2018. In his role as Document Fulfillment Specialist, Robert is responsible for supporting the underwriting team with the approval, review, and processing of fulfillment conditions specific to residential mortgage applications. He also reviews and verifies the accuracy of the required documentation related to the mortgage commitment. Robert is also responsible for coordinating with the business development team to ensure that brokers and borrowers receive the highest level of customer service.

Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Robert worked in the services sector for over 30 years. His attention to detail and customer service earned him recognition and he has received many awards. Focusing on his diverse clientele, his dedication is always to provide superior services with undiminishing commitment.

 

Jessica Chalasinska, Client Relations Manager

Jessica joined Mortgage Company of Canada in October 2010. In Jessica’s role as Client Relations Manager, she reviews and monitors mortgage payments in the portfolio. She is also responsible for the collection of delinquent payments and for educating clients on establishing and maintaining satisfactory repayment history with MCOCI. Jessica also assists in instructing and interfacing with the mortgagor’s solicitor to complete the funding of the mortgage.

Jessica holds an Honours Business Administration Diploma from Sheridan College. Prior to working at Mortgage Company of Canada, Jessica spent her career working within corporate services environments and has a wealth of experience providing human resources, client relations, and administrative support functions.

 

Nancy Costa, Mortgage Administrator

Nancy joined Mortgage Company of Canada in July 2016 as an Executive Assistant. In her current role as Mortgage Administrator, Nancy supports the underwriting team by processing new deals for underwriting assessment and assisting with mortgage pre-approvals and commitments.

Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Nancy previously worked for 12 years in the insurance and real estate industries providing support to all levels of management.

 

Domenica Discianni, Investor Relations Associate 

Domenica joined Mortgage Company of Canada in January 2020. In her current role as Investor Relations Associate, Domenica assists in the execution of Mortgage Company of Canada investor relations program. This included being responsible for the communication of relevant information between Mortgage Company of Canada and its shareholders. She is also responsible for inventory control, greeting visitors, and supporting staff with administrative duties.

Domenica graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelor’s in Business Management. Prior to obtaining employment at Mortgage Company of Canada, she worked in managerial roles in both the retail and food services industries.

 

Lisa Johnston, Senior Mortgage Compliance Coordinator

Lisa joined Mortgage Company of Canada in September 2019. In her role as Senior Mortgage Compliance Coordinator, Lisa supports the underwriting team with the approval, review, and processing of fulfillment conditions specific to residential mortgage applications. She also reviews and verifies the accuracy of the required documentation related to the mortgage commitment. Lisa is also responsible for coordinating with the business development team to ensure that brokers and borrowers receive the highest level of customer service.

Lisa graduated from McMaster University with a degree in Sociology. Prior to working at Mortgage Company of Canada, Lisa worked at Manulife as an Executive Assistant and has over 10 years of experience providing support to all levels of management. She thrives in an environment where she can lead teams and help others.

 

Ajay Kaith, President of Mortgage Originations

Ajay joined Mortgage Company of Canada in December 2013. In his role as President of Mortgage Originations, Ajay is responsible for managing the growth of Mortgage Company of Canada’s third-party mortgage brokers and to oversee the business development team. During his tenure at Mortgage Company of Canada, Ajay has developed strong business relationships with mortgage brokers who generate mortgages funded by Mortgage Company of Canada. He is also committed to serving and satisfying the needs of new and existing mortgage brokers through the delivery of superior service.

Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Ajay worked as a mortgage broker for over 7 years. During this time, he consistently received recognition for being the top-producing broker within the organization. Ajay has been able to successfully leverage his experience as a mortgage broker in his current role at Mortgage Company of Canada as he has a strong appreciation for best practices in mortgage origination and administration.

 

Emma Knox, Mortgage Renewals Specialist

Emma joined Mortgage Company of Canada in August 2018 as the Office Manager. In her current role of Mortgage Renewals Specialist, Emma is responsible for coordinating the renewal process for maturing mortgages.

Prior to working at Mortgage Company of Canada, Emma spent most of her career working as a receptionist and coordinator in various workplaces.

 

Cecelia Loren, Accounting Assistant

Cecelia joined Mortgage Company of Canada in 2021. In her role as accounting Assistant, Cecelia reports to the Controller and is responsible for journal entries, reviewing credit card statements, credit card statement reconciliations, and general accounting transactions.

 

Krystina Mustelier, Mortgage Administrator

Krystina joined Mortgage Company of Canada in May 2019. In her current role as Mortgage Administrator, Krystina supports the underwriting team by processing new deals for underwriting assessment and assisting with mortgage pre-approvals and commitments. Previously, Krystina worked as an accounts payable assistant in the financial industry and has over 10 years of diversified customer service experience.

 

Shannon Nicholson, Investor Relations Manager

Shannon joined Mortgage Company of Canada in August 2014. In her role as Investor Relations Manager, Shannon manages the development and execution of Mortgage Company of Canada’s investor relations program. This includes helping to manage the flow of key financial and corporate information between Mortgage Company of Canada and its shareholders. Shannon interfaces with Mortgage Company of Canada’s and shareholders providing a full spectrum of administrative and communications support.

Shannon holds a Bachelor of Administration from Seneca College. Shannon is also cross-trained to assist in all areas of mortgage administration and can support that function as needed.

 

Danilo Savo, VP of Mortgage Originations

Danilo joined Mortgage Company of Canada in September 2016. Is his role as VP of Mortgage Originations, Danilo’s mandate is to create, manage, and service growth of Mortgage Company of Canada’s portfolio of mortgage brokers. Danilo is responsible for the direct marketing of Mortgage Company of Canada’s lending program to mortgage brokers. Aside from portfolio growth, Danilo is also committed to serving and exceeding the needs of new and existing mortgage brokers through superior service.

Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Danilo worked in the sales and service industry for over 6 years. During this time, he built strong relationships with a diverse clientele and received recognition for superior sales and service skills.

 

Jacky Su, Senior Financial Analyst

Jacky joined Mortgage Company of Canada in August 2021 as a Senior Financial Analyst. In his role, Jacky reports to the CFO in assessing trends and advising on plans to help meet the corporation’s financial goals.

Jacky graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a concentration in finance. He is currently working towards obtaining his CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst). Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Jacky worked as a Senior Financial Analyst at President Choice Financial. In his role, Jacky collaborated with leaders to communicate performance and understand new initiatives.

 

Rakhi Tejani, President of Investor Relations

Rakhi joined Mortgage Company of Canada in April 2015. In her role as President of Investor Relations, Rakhi has overall responsibility for Mortgage Company of Canada’s Investor Relations program. Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Rakhi worked at National Bank Financial Markets in the role of Senior Manager Operational Risk. In this role, her main focus was analyzing potential business risks, including fraud, legal, regulatory and execution risks.

Rakhi Tejani is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business. She began her career at KPMG within the audit practice and focused on financial institution clients. From there, she moved into the pharmaceutical industry, working at both Glaxo Smith Kline and Johnson & Johnson in various senior financial and consulting roles. She also had the opportunity to work abroad in Ireland and London, UK. Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Rakhi worked at National Bank Financial Markets in the role of Senior Manager Operational Risk. In this role, her main focus was analyzing potential business risks, including fraud, legal, regulatory and execution risks.

In 2013, Rakhi was awarded the Women in Capital Markets Return to Bay Street Award.

 

Raji Uppal, Credit Risk Manager

Raji joined Mortgage Company of Canada in August 2015. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring credit policy compliance and that portfolio credit risk is properly measured, monitored, and controlled. She also assists with the interpretation, revision and development of credit policies, procedures, and corporate directives. She reviews all credit applications, ensuring they provide a high quality of risk assessment, credit structure, due diligence and credit presentation. On an ongoing basis, she verifies the continued health and good standing of the company’s residential lending portfolio.

Raji holds a BA in Criminology and Justice from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Prior to working at Mortgage Company of Canada, Raji spent the majority of her career working as part of the management team within retail corporate environments. From this experience, she has developed a wealth of knowledge in client relations, excellent interpersonal skills, strong leadership skills and a high level of resilience. During her time as a manager, Raji was recognized as a strong dedicated employee who played an essential role in the success of the company.

 

Echo Wu, Accountant

Echo joined Mortgage Company of Canada in September 2016. In her role as Accounting Assistant, Echo works closely with and reports to the Controller. Her field of work includes journal entries, record keeping of dividend distributions, bank account reconciliation, credit card statements reconciliation, payroll tracking, and financial statement preparation.

Echo holds a Bachelor of Business Management from Ryerson University, majoring in both Accounting and Finance. Echo is also a member of CPA Ontario. Prior to joining Mortgage Company of Canada, Echo worked as an Accounts Payable Specialist with a credit collection company. Echo also gained experience as an Accounting Assistant with a public accounting firm, which has served clients in the GTA area for over 40 years. Echo has worked independently as well as in a team to help clients with a full range of services including bookkeeping, financial reporting, personal and corporation taxation, and payroll services.
