Board of Directors
Mortgage Company of Canada is committed to strong corporate governance practices. Accordingly, we have appointed three well-respected business and finance professionals with public company experience as independent members to our Board of Directors.
Raj Babber is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mortgage Company of Canada. Prior to founding Mortgage Company of Canada, Raj founded Canada Lend inc,. operating through Canadalend.com. In 2009, Raj leveraged his deep industry knowledge and broad network to create Mortgage Company of Canada, which converted into a Mortgage Investment Corporation in 2013. From its inception Mortgage Company of Canada has continued to grow while minimizing risk and improving yield through increased scale of operations and sound corporate governance.
Greg Goutis is the Chief Financial Officer of Mortgage Company of Canada. Greg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in financial and economic studies from the University of Western Ontario and obtained the CMA designation in 1999 (now CPA). Over the course of his career, Greg has accumulated over 15 years of experience in the construction and real estate industries.
Mr. Garcelon has over 25 years of experience in the financial sector. He is currently an Executive Vice-President and Portfolio Manager at Shaunessy Investment Counsel Inc., a boutique investment manager specializing in global balanced portfolios. Mr. Garcelon is a former Co-founder and Principal of Grove Capital Group, a private merchant bank, where he was responsible for evaluating potential investment and business development opportunities. He was previously a Member of the Board of Directors and Audit Committee Chair at Midlands Minerals Corporation and Southern Andes Energy Inc. Mr. Garcelon is a CFA® Charterholder and holds a MSc in International Political Economy from The London School of Economics & Political Science. Mr. Garcelon also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.
Ms. Oldenburg has over 21 years of experience in various financial positions within the finance and real estate sectors. She is currently the Chief Financial Officer at Credit Suisse Canada. Previously, she was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of MCAN Mortgage Corporation from 2006 to 2013. Ms. Oldenburg is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a CFA® Charterholder, and holds a Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University.
Mr. Johnston is a seasoned real estate industry executive with more than 30 years of experience. Mr. Johnston previously served as Chief Executive Officer of CreateTO, the manager of the City of Toronto’s $27 billion real estate portfolio. From 2012 to 2018, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Mattamy Homes, Canada’s largest homebuilder. Prior to joining Mattamy, he worked in several management roles at Monarch Corporation from 1984 to 2012, including serving as President. Mr. Johnston is currently a Director of the C.D. Howe Institute, the Bruce Trail Conservancy, and is a member of the Board of Regents at Victoria University in the University of Toronto. Mr. Johnston has held professional board roles across a variety of organizations including the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and the Ontario Home Builders’ Association. Mr. Johnston is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto.
Strategic Advisor to the Board
Mr. Drimmer has over 20 years of experience in the multi-family residential and commercial real estate sectors in Canada and in the U.S. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of True North Commercial Real Estate Investment Trust, and President and Chief Executive Officer of Starlight Investments Ltd. Mr. Drimmer holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario, and a Master of Business Administration and a Masters in Contemporary European Policy Making from European University in Geneva, Switzerland.
