Board of Directors

Mortgage Company of Canada is committed to strong corporate governance practices.  Accordingly, we have appointed three well-respected business and finance professionals with public company experience as independent members to our Board of Directors.

Raj Babber

Raj Babber is the Founder, Chief Executive Officer and President of the Mortgage Company of Canada. Prior to founding Mortgage Company of Canada, Raj founded Canadalend.com. In 2009, Raj leveraged his deep industry knowledge and broad network to create Mortgage Company of Canada, which converted into a Mortgage Investment Corporation in 2013. From its inception Mortgage Company of Canada continues to grow while minimizing risk and improving yield through increased scale of operations and sound corporate governance.

Greg Goutis

Greg Goutis is the Chief Financial Officer at Mortgage Company of Canada. Greg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in financial and economic studies from the University of Western Ontario and obtained the CMA designation in 1999 (now CPA). Over the course of his career, Greg has accumulated over 15 years of experience in the construction and real estate industries.

James Garcelon

Mr. Garcelon has over 20 years of experience in the financial sector. He is currently a Portfolio Manager at Shaunessy Investment Counsel Inc., a boutique investment manager specializing in global balanced portfolios. Mr. Garcelon is a former Co-founder and Principal of Grove Capital Group, a private merchant bank, where he was responsible for evaluating potential investment and business development opportunities. He was previously a Member of the Board of Directors and Audit Committee Chair at Midlands Minerals Corporation and Southern Andes Energy Inc. Mr. Garcelon is a CFA®️ charter holder and holds a MSc in International Political Economy from The London School of Economics & Political Science. Mr Garcelon also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.

Tammy Oldenburg

Tammy Oldenburg has over 18 years of experience in various financial positions within the finance and real estate sectors.  Ms. Oldenburg is currently Chief Financial Officer at Credit Suisse Canada.  Previously, she was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of MCAN from 2006 to 2013, where she was a key member of MCAN’s leadership team. Ms. Oldenburg is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation and an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University

Brian Johnston

Mr. Johnston is a seasoned real estate industry executive with more than 30 years of management experience. Since 2012, he has served as Chief Operating Officer of Mattamy Homes, Canada’s largest homebuilder. Prior to joining Mattamy, he worked in several management roles at Monarch Corporation from 1984 to 2012, serving as President from 2000 to 2012. Mr. Johnston currently serves as a Director of the C.D. Howe Institute, the Bruce Trail Conservancy, and is a member of the Board of Regents at Victoria University in the University of Toronto. He was previously a director of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) from 2008 to 2016, among other prior board appointments.

Daniel Drimmer

Mr. Drimmer has over 20 years of experience in the multi-family residential and commercial real estate sectors in Canada and in the U.S. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of True North Apartment Real Estate Investment Trust and True North Commercial Real Estate Investment Trust, and Chief Executive Officer of Starlight Investments Ltd. Mr. Drimmer holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario, and a Master of Business Administration and a Masters in Contemporary European Policy Making from European University in Geneva, Switzerland.
